On our way to Scotland you can make a little detour to visit the remainder of Hadrian’s Wall, a structure built in Roman times. Later on we will tour the impressive ruins of Jedburgh Abbey and see the house which once housed Mary Queen of Scots. |

| Day 13 | |||

Bustling Princes Street, the Royal Mile and a visit to the imposing Edinburgh Castle are all included on our guided sightseeing tour. In a Wooden Mill we learn how the tartans are made. In the afternoon there is free time for exploring on your own or shopping around Castle Hill before we meet again for a delicious dinner. Then we will enjoy an evening of bagpipes, traditional songs, spirited Highland dancing and kilts galore.

| Day 14 | |||

Today we head North to the Highlands. In Pitlochy we visit a water power station situated on the delightful River Tilt and watch the salmon going up the 18 steps of a fish ladder. Then we find out how they distil Scotch Whisky when we visit the smallest distillery in Scotland. From here it is just a 5 minute drive to our campground situated on the grounds of Blair Castle.

| Day 15 | |||

A day filled with highlights is waiting for us! On our guided tour of beautiful Blair castle we will see the Duke of Atholl’s antique furniture and collections of china, weapons and portraits. Then we traverse the impressive landscape of the Grampians on our way to the Battle Field of Culloden. There we hear about the tragedy of the battle of the Scottish clans against the English army. From here it is just a short drive to the mysterious and legendary Loch Ness. We will try to spot Nessie on our cruise on a sonar equipped boat. Then we drive along the lovely shoreline of Loch Ness and visit the picturesque Urquhart Castle ruin. Our campground for this night is situated on the shore of Loch Ness. The friendly owner and his wife will prepare a hearty dinner for us and we will hear more about the Monster!

| Day 16 | |||

Our scenic drive takes us along shimmering lochs and rugged glens. Have your camera ready when we enter the Great Glen beneath Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. In the afternoon we come to the bonnie Loch Lomond, located in the Trossachs National Park, where the magnificent landscape has inspired many writers and artists. |

| Day 17 | |||

Driving along Gretna Green we will visit the old Blacksmith’s house, where weddings are still held. Later we arrive in England’s lovely Lake District, a vast area of mountain woodland and calm lakes. I

This morning we’ll enjoy a cruise on an old steamboat on Lake Windermere. (Sorry, not on our schedule in 2008 because the steamboats are under maintenance) In the afternoon we have an easy drive to Chester. |

Chester with its impressive cathedral, half-timbered houses, ancient town walls and quaint old Rows is definitely a town to savour. After our tour in a Vintage bus you have time to explore the little alley ways on your own.

This morning we’ll have a tour of imposing Conwy Castle, a World Heritage Site. Then we board our comfortable ferry and cruise across the Irish Sea to Dublin. | ||
| Day 21 | |||

On our sightseeing tour we will see the highlights of Dublin, Dublin Castle, City Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Trinity College with its 1200 year-old Book of Kells and the Old Library. Then we have dinner in one of the old, traditional pubs. | ||

After 2 hours of driving we come to the unique limestone plateau of the Burren. Our scenic drive along the byways will bring us to Doolin, a little village at the shore of the Atlantic. From our campground we might watch the waves splashing against the cliffs. The little old pub in Doolin, where musicians meet every evening for sessions, is waiting for our visit!
